LOCAL Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Muhd Adib Pehin Sulaiman said he got no surprises from his opponent in their fight at the Ultimate Beatdown Fighting Championship in Johor on Saturday.

Muhd Adib, or better known as "Deep" got his MMA record off to a winning start dominating his opponent Calsen Choong from Penang throughout the three-round bout at the Sentosa Plaza in Johor Bahru.

Speaking after the fight, the 26-year-old said that he expected Choong to come out and stick to stand up Muay Thai game, and that he had planned to take full advantage of his opponent's style.

"As I expected, he anticipated the ground game from me and stuck to his muay thai root game," said Deep in an interview with BruSports.

"The fight went on better throughout the rounds as I got the feeling of how he played his game plan and adjusted,” he added.

"I am really glad that I was set up against such a strong opponent with two wins and coming from a strong gym academy.

"For me, participating in the event itself is already exciting and I was told by the managers of the Ultimate Beatdown that I was the first Bruneian in history to sign up for the event," continued Deep.

"Special thanks goes out to the team Busiido coach Eazy Auar, Norhidayat Abdul as helpful advisor and training partner for MMA, the rest of the team and staff members of Busiido academy for their help and support through out,” said Deep.

“And of course my family who have been much supporting in my daily routines and training regime.

"Winning this match was a bonus to add on to the whole experience of this and next for me is definitely recovery and improvement in my game plan as I may be looking to future fights," he concluded.
