Four athletes for Philippine Open

BRUNEI will be represented by four athletes at the 2017 Philippine National Open Invitational Athletics Championships to be held at Ilagan City, Isabela.

Rio Olympian Maizurah Abdul Rahim will compete in the heptathlon at the March 30 - April 2 event while Md Adenin Bolhan in both the shot put and discus throw events.

Ak Muhd Hazim Harith Pg Fadzil will race in the 400m event and Mohammad Efwan Asmalee in the 800m event.

The latter duo will also take to the tracks for the 12th SEA Youth Athletics Championships at the same venue from March 27-28.

The competition is for those born in the years 2000, 2001, and 2002 with the main objective of giving them exposure to improve their performance and to set new personal bests.

The pair, accompanied by national athletics coach Fidel Gallenero, departed the Sultanate yesterday and present to send them off was the Brunei Darussalam Athletics Federation (BDAF) president Kifli Hj Jaafar.
