Over 200 kids participate in OzSports Festival

THE OzSports Festival proved to be a hit with over 200 kids participating in a fun-filled morning at Taman SOAS yesterday.

Organised by the Australian High Commission, with the support of Sports Camps Australia and a huge range of local partners, the event began with a warmup session led by Fitness Zone before the kids were separated into groups and rotated from sport to sport.

They were treated to a wide range of sports - Basketball, Climbing, Dodgeball, Football, Functional Fitness, Hockey, Mountain Biking, Netball, Parkour, Rugby, Tennis, and Ultimate Frisbee - during the four-hour event as part of Bandarku Ceria.

Australian Charge d'Affaires Carol Allnutt paid tribute to their partners in making the event possible.

"Australians love their sport and getting out on the weekend to have some fun with friends and family,” said Allnutt.

"The festival is designed around this idea. The High Commission would like to thank the amazing local sporting association and businesses who we have worked with to make this event possible,” she added.

"It has been wonderful to see them share their enthusiasm and passion for their sports with the children today (Sunday).

"We hope the kids have had a great time and found sports that they love and will continue to play well into the future,” continued Allnutt.

The OzSports Festival is just the tip of the iceberg as it kicks off a week of SCA Camps, which are as follows:-

  • SCA Nike FZ Basketball Camp at Fitness Zone Kiulap from March 27
  • SCA Nike Phizz Kids Multisport at Fitness Zone Kiulap from March 30
