TEN-MAN Jerudong FC edged Wijaya FC 2-1 for their first win in the DST Super League last night at the Berakas Sports Complex.

Jerudong, who started their campaign with a 5-0 thumping at the hands of Kasuka FC last Tuesday, took the lead one minute before the break when Md Arif Ali Rahman scored a free-kick.

Wijaya equalised just three minutes after the interval when Agus Haryono rose the highest to head in a cross from the right.

Jerudong were down to 10 men after Md Arif Md Azamin was shown his second yellow card for handling the ball in the 58th minute.

However, they regained the lead three minutes later when Md Asnawi Syazni Abdul Aziz poked home the ball after a cross from the right.

A tired Jerudong managed to weather the storm to claim maximum points despite playing with a man down for more than half an hour.

“Wijaya are a strong team and finished third in the league last season, but our men followed instructions and played as a team,” said Jerudong FC coach Hj Md Jalaluddin Hj Ghazali.

“I hope this result will motivate them to play with more spirit,” he added.

The early kick off saw defending champions Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) beat Lun Bawang 2-0 at the Batu Apoi Sports Complex in Temburong.

Abd Azizi Ali Rahman and Budiman Jumat scored in either half in the victory.

Meanwhile in the DST Premier League, Tunas FC beat Setia Perdana 2-1 and ILKS FC defeated BSRC 4-1.
