Brunei end AFC U-20 Futsal Championship campaign

BRUNEI ended their Group A campaign at the AFC (Asian Football Confederation) Under-20 Futsal Championship in Bangkok without a win after a 7-3 defeat at the hands of Malaysia last night.

Both teams entered the matchup with no chance of qualifying for the quarter-finals of the competition.

Mohamad Awalludin Mat Nawi opened the scoring for Malaysia in the ninth minute but the lead was shortlived as Brunei equalised two minutes later courtesy of a Muhammad Nasu’rul Wafiy Hj Hassan’s free-kick.

Malaysia regained the lead two minutes before the interval through Muhammad Aidil Shahril Rosli .

He extended Malaysia's cushion to two goals just one minute after the break.

Muhammad Amirul Sugito made it 4-1 in the 31st minute but the Sultanate responded seconds later through Nizamuddin Hj Ismail.

A quick brace from Muhammad Amirul in the 37th minute then put the match to bed.

Muhammad Abdul Khaaliq Hj Lazim let in an own goal a minute later to make it 7-2 before Nasu’rul Wafiy added his second goal as a mere consolation.
