DPMM FC crashed out of the Singapore Cup after losing 3-1 (6-2 aggregate) to Home United FC in the quarter-final second leg tie last night.

Despite carrying a two-goal cushion coming into the second leg, the Protectors came out on the offensive at the Bishan Stadium in Singapore.

Christopher Van Huizen came close to open the scoring in the 13th minute but his shot came off the crossbar.

Croatian Stipe Plazibat had an opportunity for the hosts two minutes before the interval but his shot from inside the box was saved by DPMM FC goalkeeper Ak Mu’izzudin Pg Ismail.

The final opportunity of the opening half saw Juma’at Jantan drive a shot from 25 yards out just inches wide.

DPMM FC needed only three minutes into the second half to grab the lead after Helmi Zambin dispossessed Song Uiyong before firing it between the legs of Home United shotstopper Hassan Sunny.

The Brunei side could have gone level on aggregate in the 55th minute but Abd Mu’iz Sisa couldn’t get the better of Hassan one-on-one.

Instead, Home United levelled the game in the 64th minute after substitute Iqram Rifqi, who had only been on the field for a mere minute, squared the ball for Faris Ramli to score.

Iqram should have gotten his name on the scoresheet the next minute but his effort from point blank range was saved by Ak Mu’izzuddin.

The custodian kept DPMM FC in the game having to parry Juma’at’s attempt in the 70th minute.

Iqram eventually found the back of the net in the 86th minute after tapping home from close range to make 2-1.

Juma’at then completed the victory for the Protectors with another goal in stoppage time.

DPMM FC will next see action on Monday where they will take on Balestier Khalsa FC in the S.League at the Toa Payoh Stadium.
