LOCAL mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Mohd Adib Pehin Sulaiman is ready to make his second MMA appearance at the Singapore Fighting Championship (SFC) on Saturday.

The local MMA rising star is coming off a landslide victory over Calsen Choong in his debut at the Ultimate Beatdown Fighting Championship Malaysia in March.

Adib, who is competing under the banner of a new MMA based club in Tutong - Wolfpack Training Ground, has prepared well for the competition over the past two months.

“The fight promotion (SFC) was looking for an MMA fighter for their event…so when I heard about it, so I decided to just go for it,” said Adib in an interview with BruSports News recently.

“It is quite a big event which involves a number of professional boxing matches and several MMA fight.

“The training has been good… I have been working on my stamina and endurance lately and at the gym, I spend most of the time on boxing and ground fighting,” added the head coach of Wolf Pack Training Ground.

The strength of the 26-year-old, who is a blue belt under Busiido Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), has always been in ground fighting.

He credits his mentor Eazy Anuar, a seasoned BJJ athlete who has medaled in a number of regional and international tournaments over the past years, for it.

“I am currently based in Wolfpack but my coach is still Eazy Anuar of Busiido,” said Adib.

“He has always been there for me and I hope to have him cornering me for my fight in Singapore,” he added.

Organised by Singapore’s Juggernaut Fight Club, the pro main event will feature WBC Asian female Featherweight Championship and OPBF Silver Featherweight Championship between NurShahidah Roslie of Singapore and Siriphon Chanbuala from Thailand.

SFC is an amateur MMA organisation founded in 2014 and aims to foster the growth of amateur MMA in Singapore.

The organisation was established to encourage the development of local and regional athletes capable of competing in world class settings by providing opportunities for them to compete in proper sanctioned fights, which will support their development on their path to the professional ranks.
