Maktab Duli, ISB crowned champions of Easyway National Interschool Basketball Cup

MAKTAB Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah College and International School Brunei (ISB) were crowned champions of the Easyway National Interschool Basketball Cup after winning the boy's and girl's events respectively yesterday.

Jensen Soh Wee Liang scored the game-high of 69 points to help Maktab Duli to beat Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre 100-79 in the victory.

Jake Chong, who received the most valuable player (MVP) award, was equally impressive for Maktab Duli contributing 26 points in the final of the boy's category held at the Brunei Basketball Association (BBA) Court in Batu Bersurat yesterday.

Over in the girl's category, most valuable player Nur Marsya Rashidi of ISB bagged 23 points to help her team to claim the title beating Maktab Duli 71-48 in the final.

ISB boy's team also managed to get on the podium finishing in third place after defeating Chung Ching Middle School 150-21 in the third place play-off.

Meanwhile,  Meragang Sixth Form Centre took the bronze in the girl's category after a 46-12 win over Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam Secondary School in the other third place play-off.

Present as the guest of honour to present the trophy and medals to the winners was the Ministry of Education (MoE) Deputy Permanent Secretary Nadia Lee Siew Hoon Abdullah.

Organised by BBA and Department of Co-curriculum Education, 17 teams took part in the November 16-23 tournament.
