ADIB Sulaiman made a successful mixed martial arts (MMA) debut in the Ultimate Beatdown Fighting Championship Malaysia after beating Calsen Choong from Penang by unanimous decision last night.

Fighting under the banner of Busiido MMA club, Adib picked his opponent apart in striking exchange and scored a couple of surprise takedowns throughout the three-round bout at the Plaza Sentosa in Johor Bahru.

In the opening round, Adib was able to land multiple combination of punches and the 26-year-old also managed to wrestle his opponent down to secure good mount for ground and pound.

The second stanza saw Adib gain more confidence moving freely around the cage and landing a number of solid punches to the head before scoring another take down just seconds before the end of the round.

Choong ran out of steam in the final round and was unable to mount any effective offence and Adib saw the round out to ensure the victory to get his MMA record off to a winning start.

Sanctioned by the Malaysia Mixed Martial Arts Association (MASMMAA), the Ultimate Beatdown Fighting Championship is Malaysia's longest-running MMA promotion established in 2010.
