Curtains come down on 9th SOBD National Games

THE 9th Special Olympics Brunei Darussalam (SOBD) National Games concluded yesterday at the Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium of the Royal Brunei Police Forces (RBPF) in Gadong.

The main highlight of the event was the 5 a-side football final between Pusat Bahagia and Unit Pendidikan Khas (Special Education Unit) 'B'.

Pusat Bahagia won the title decider 8-2 to be crowned the champions while Special Education Unit 'A' took the bronze medal.

In the athletics events, Mohammad Hakim Abdullah bagged the gold medal in the 100m division 1 category with the time of 13.00s.

Nor Azmie Jambon was second with a time of 14.16 seconds while Mohd Danish Rizq placed third with 14.22 seconds.

The other sports competed at the two-day tournament were bocce, 10-pin bowling and badminton.

Present as the guest of honour to award the prizes to the winners was Saidai Hj Hitam, the Dean of Students at the Universiti of Brunei Darussalam (UBD).

Organised by the Special Education Unit with the cooperation of SOBD and UBD students, some 500 participants took part in the annual multi-sporting competition.
