ALL three of Brunei’s fighters in the main event of STRIKE:Redemption’s Kickboxing Tournament finished at the winning end last night.

Wali Rahman of Silverback Muay Thai was the first to taste success by claiming the STRIKE 73kg K-1 title with a second round TKO against Kenny Jafili of Team Karabaw (Malaysia).

Project Mayhem’s Aaron Lim then went the full distance and edged Aziz ‘the Shantung Zhai’ Gwojye of Kinabalu Fighters for the STRIKE 60kg K-1 title following a split decision.

On the other hand, Saufy Jaman of Nak Muay Fight Gym made it three out of three for Brunei after delivering a TKO against Dean Hamsah in just 1min 39s in his pro MMA bout.

The main event began with Alexis ‘Pretty Boy’ Akang of Team Karabaw defeating ChainbBock Muay Thai’s O Kay Gyi (Myanmar) in their 60kg intercontinental bout.

The first ever pro K-1 fight held in Brunei then followed with Fadzly Julai of Warmonger Academy (Malaysia) overcoming Rayyan ‘the Black Mamba’ Rizqin of Kinabalu Fighters in their 56kg K-1 title bout.

Nidal ‘King Joker’ Mahmoud of Jordan Fight Team (Malaysia) produced a second round TKO against Volkz Lutador Academy’s Edho Nowie (Indonesia) to win the 70kg K-1 belt.

A semi-pro MMA bout followed with Filipino Jeff ‘Skull Crusher’ Andrew Palma of Sabah Top Team beating Rahman Husin of Volkz Lutador Academy.

The main event then culminated with the 57kg K-1 bout featuring Malaysia’s only hearing impaired Muay Thai fighter, Sunny ‘the Silencer’ Sabornido of Borneo Combat Gym, against Arie Ananda Putra of Volkz Lutador Academy.

Sabornido quickly took control of the match and needed only 1m 49s for the TKO in the opening round.
