BRUNEI will be making their first appearance in Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia.

The Sultanate will be represented by five athletes - Muhammad Adid Abdul Kahar, Hasnal Husna Ahmad, Awangku Muhd Nur' Nazirul Mubin Pengiran Roslan, Azizil Anwar Mosli and Awangku Muhammad Habibullah Pengiran Hj Jufri - at the biennial competition.

They will contest in both the individual and relay events at the car park of the Chroy Changvar Convention Center in Phnom Penh.

National OCR coach Pengiran Muhammad Rafie Pengiran Saiful Redzalli hopes for a good showing at the Games.

"Since this will be our debut, we hope to have a strong outing in both categories," Rafie in an interview with BruSports News when contacted.

"Although this is a new experience for the team, we hope to get into the top five or better with a podium finish," he added.

OCR was first held at the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines - which the hosts dominated by taking home six gold medals - making them the favourites.

Malaysia and Indonesia second best and are not far behind.

"We will definitely do our best against these powerhouses as they have more experience in the sport," said Rafie.

"The squad had a relatively good outing at the Ninja World Cup Asia and more recently the 3K OCR competition in the Philippines.

"We did pretty well all across the board since it was our first ever official outing as a national team," added the 36-year-old.

"All the athletes are still fired up and we hope to carry this enthusiasm and strength into the SEA Games," he concluded.
