THE national under-21 netball team secured a seventh place finish at the Asian Youth Netball Championships 2023 in Jeonju, South Korea.

The result sees them slip down a rung from the previous edition in Kashima, Japan in 2019.

The Young Bees began their Group B campaign at the June 10-17 competition with a 90-8 defeat at the hands of Singapore.

They bounced back with a 41-25 victory over Chinese Taipei before dropping 82-16 against Sri Lanka.

Brunei finished third in their group after winning 54-15 against hosts South Korea.

The result set them up against Thailand in the next round where they lost 60-28.

The Brunei side took seventh spot after India edged Thailand 47-46 in the fifth-place playoff.

Malaysia successfully retained their title with a 49-46 victory over causeway rivals Singapore in the final.

Sri Lanka claimed the bronze after triumphing 46-32 against Hong Kong.

The top three teams are assured a slot in the 2025 World Youth Netball Cup to be held in Gibraltar.
