Pg Md Sufian smashes to three gold medals

PG MD SUFIAN Pg Hj Ibrahim completed a sweep of his events after winning three gold medals at the Brunei Darussalam National Open, Youth and Veteran Table Tennis Championship 2026 over the weekend.

The veteran paddler won the men's singles event with a 3-0 (11-7, 11-8, 11-8) scorelines against Samuel Revales in the final at the Tutong Sports Complex.

He then teamed up with his son Ak Md Sufi Fakhrullah to capture the men's doubles after edging Ak Rasheed Pg Muhammad Noor and Goh Teck Chin 3-2 (8-11, 12-10, 8-11, 11-8, 11-9).

Pg Md Sufian also clinched the veteran men's singles (40-49) event following a 3-1 (7-11, 11-7, 11-8, 11-7) win over Zainal Ariffin Dato Hj Puasa.

Lee Soo Hui emerged champion of the women's singles triumphing 3-0 (11-5, 13-11, 11-5) against Ting Siew Chien.

Over in the youth category, Jai Dua came out as the biggest winner after amassing a total of three gold and one bronze medals.

The 13-year-old paddler bagged the U15 Boys' singles after defeating his doubles partner Joric Ho 3-1 (7-11, 11-7, 11-7, 11-7) in the final.

They teamed up to win the U19 Boys' doubles after beating the duo of Daryl Liaw and Dylan Chin 3-0 (11-6, 11-4, 11-4) in the title decider.

Jai then partnered Abby Lim to finish top of the podium in the U19 mixed doubles after overcoming Ho and Wong Yue Yee 3-0 (11-5, 15-13, 17-15).

His other podium finish came in the U19 boys’ singles after he faltered in the semi-finals.Ho bagged the U19 boys' singles title after taking down Chan Yu Ren 3-2 (11-9, 7-11, 3-11, 16-14, 11-5).

Chin Wui San claimed the U19 girls' singles after dispatching Wong 3-1 (11-8, 10-12, 11-8, 11-4).

The latter then teamed up with Vienna Kwong to triumph in the U19 girls' doubles. They defeated the pair of Liu Jia En and Chin 3-0 (17-15, 11-7, 11-3).

Wong also captured the U15 girls' singles with a 3-0 (11-8, 11-6, 11-8) victory over Liu Jia Yu.

Over in the U12 category, Ivan Bong won the boys' singles after taking down Elroy Wong 3-2 (11-9, 11-8, 8-11, 14-16, 11-8) while Lim won the girls' singles after beating Arianne Lim 3-0 (11-7, 11-2, 11-3).

Revales captured two other gold medals after winning the veteran men's singles (50-59) and partnered Dr Kyaw Naing Wing to clinch the men's doubles combined 110+.
