IT WAS a gold medal rush for Md Danial Hakim Harjimmey as he bagged a total of five gold and one silver at the Para Swimming Circuit in Kuala Lumpur over the weekend.
Held at the National Aquatics Centre in Bukit Jalil, the 22-year-old also managed to set five new national records.
He began his campaign with a silver medal finish in the 50m butterfly event with a time of 46.56 seconds beating his old record of 50.73s.
He then set three new best times on the second day of action in the 100m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly.

Md Danial completed the 100m freestyle clocking 1:21.25 bettering his old time of 1:24.21.
Over in the 50m backstroke, he finished on 45.40s smashing his old record of 47.83s and stood atop the podium in the 50m breaststroke with his swim of 56.56s.
He finished the competition on a high with two more national records on Sunday.
Md Danial shaved off 0.41s from his best time in the 50m freestyle after finishing on 36.16s.
He then checked out with gold in the 400m freestyle with his time of 6:28.65 besting his previous best of 6:48.25.
The 22-year-old is satisfied with his achievements to date and is looking forward to more.

"I'm proud of these results but it's not enough," said Md Danial in an interview with BruSports News.
"I will need to attend more competitions this year considering I have qualified for the ASEAN Para Games happening in January next year," he added.
When asked on which events he is targeting, Md Danial replied: "There is another circuit happening in August followed by the World Ability Sports in September.
"Then there is the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh in November," he concluded.
