THE national swim team set two new national records at the 23rd Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Olympian Hayley Wong began her campaign on the right note with a new national record in the women's 50m butterfly event.
She finished with a time of 28.99s to surpass her previous best of 29.31s, which she set at the 7th Youth Commonwealth Youth Games at Trinidad and Tobago in 6th August 2023.
The 18-year-old also contested in the 50m freestyle (27.73s) and 100m freestyle (1:00.75) events at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre.
The second national record was courtesy of Joel Ling in the men's 200m backstroke event.
Ling, who was the flagbearer during the opening ceremony, achieved a time of 2:11.00 to place 14th overall out of 18 contestants.
The time bettered his previous best of 2:11.41, which he achieved during the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand in December.
He also took to the pool in the 100m backstroke (59.12s) and 100m freestyle (53.69s) events.
Sharmeen Mohammad Mharvin was Brunei's other swim representative.
She came extremely to breaking her national record in the women's 100m backstroke after completing her swim with a time of 1:07.80 – just 0.02s difference from her best.
The 17-year-old also achieved a new personal best in the 50m freestyle (27.51s) and rounded off her campaign in the 50m backstroke (30.63s) event.
