THE national veteran basketball team are one win away from completing a sweep in the veteran category of the Borneo Cup after a 78-52 victory over Labuan on Saturday.
Brunei made it back-to-back wins after opening their campaign with a 58-52 triumph over Kota Kinabalu the day before.
Kevin Tay produced a game-high of 18 points, which included five three-pointers, to pace Brunei.
Ben Sim added 17 points while Esmond Tan was the other in double-digit scoring with 13 to his name.
On the other side, Wong Vui Chung was the only cager in double figures for Labuan with 16 points.
Having opened up a 36-29 at halftime, the hosts used a 9-0 run in over a four-minute span to create a healthy cushion over their opponents at the BBA Court in Batu Bersurat.
Brunei led by as many as 18 points after Tse Tow Joon Yeen found Sim to finish on the break to make it 49-31 midway through.
However, Labuan managed to finish off the stanza strongly as Brunei were held without a field goal.
They outscored Brunei 9-3 to see them trim the deficit to 52-40 heading into the decisive frame.
Both sides traded baskets to start the fourth period but a 10-0 run over a span of almost four minutes helped Brunei put the match to bed.
The Sultanate will play Miri in their final match at 1pm on Sunday.
