Adi Salihin snags silver at World Games

NATIONAL wushu athlete Muhammad Adi Saihin Roslan bagged a silver medal at the World Games 2025 in Chengdu, China.

Adi Salihin took the runner-up spot in the men's combined nanquan - nangun event after tallying a total of 19.456 points (9.716 + 9.740) losing out to Iran's Shahin Banitalebi only by 0.010 points.

Chinese-Taipei's Liu Chang Min completed the podium at the Hi-Tech Zone Sports Centre Gymnasium.

Basma Lachkar couldn't replicate her gold medal win in the women's combined taijiquan - taijijian event from the 2022 edition of the Games.

She narrowly missed out on a podium finish after placing fourth out of nine athletes with 19.393 points (9.720 + 9.673).

China's Lu Zhuoling claimed the gold with her score of 19.522.

Singaporean Zeanne Law clinched silver at 19.430 while Malaysia's Sydney Chin Sy Xuan grabbed the bronze.

Over in the men's combined taijiquan - taijijian event, Hosea Wong Zheng Yu, who won silver back in 2022, finished fifth overall with 19.453 points (9.730 + 9.723).

Yeung Chung Hei of Hong Kong took home the gold at 19.526 points followed by Japan's Tomohiro Araya and Tay Yu Xuan of Singapore respectively.

Basma's younger brother, Walid, placed sixth overall in the men's combined changquandaoshu - gunshu event.

The 19-year-old finished with a total score of 28.588 points.

National wushu coach Li Hui is proud of his charges considering this is the highest level event.

This is Brunei's second appearance at the Games, which is contested once every four years.

The quartet had qualified for the World games after finishing in the top-six of their respective events at the 16th world Wushu Championships in 2023.
