Adi Salihin wins bronze at World Wushu C’Ships

NATIONAL wushu athlete Muhammad Adi Salihin Roslan made the country proud once again with yet another podium finish.

This time with a bronze medal in the men's nangun event at the 17th World Wushu Championships in Brasilia, Brazil.

His routine earned him a score of 9.720 points to place third in the field of 32 contestants at the Ulysses Guimarães Convention Centre.

Hong Kong's Lau Chi Lung won the gold with 9.746 points followed by Huang Wen Sheng of Chinese-Taipei clinching second place with 9.723 points.

Adi's performance follows up on his silver medal at the World Games in China last month.

He also contested in the men's nanquan and nandao events.

The 25-year-old placed fifth out of 36 contestants with his score of 9.700 points in the former and claimed sixth spot out of 32 participants in the latter after tallying 9.710 points.

Brunei were represented by a total of three athletes – siblings Basma and Walid Lachkar being the others - at the August 31 – September 7 competition.

Basma contested in both the women's taijijian and taijiquan events.

She finished in the sixth position out of 13 in the taijijian event with a score of 9.640 points.

Meanwhile, she managed 9.696 points in the taijiquan event to place 10th out of 19 exponents.

Her younger brother Walid placed fourth in the men's changquan event in the preliminary rounds with his score of 9.730 points.

In the final, he finished eighth overall with his score of 9.663 points out of 76 participants.

He also contested in the men's gunshu event where he placed seventh in the preliminary rounds with his score of 9.693 points and also finished in ninth position in the men's daoshu event with his score of 9.616 points also in the preliminary rounds.
