GHK signal title intent

GHK signalled their title intent with an 84-51 victory over RYS in Group A of the YOU.C1000 Veteran Basketball Cup on Saturday night.

Ben Sim came up huge for GHK with a game-high of 27 points, which included four treys.

Kenny Lim Teck Wee was also instrumental with 19 points in the opening win.

On the other side, Chia Keen Yung topscored for RYS with 12 points.

Jong Kuo Wen and Fong Yeh Leong poured in 11 and 10 respectively in the loss.

GHK had a strong start to score the first eight points of the game at the BBA Court in Batu Bersurat.

Chia then put RYS on the board with a three over two minutes in.

An offensive putback by Sim helped GHK open up a 20-12 lead going into the second frame.

They opened up a double digit lead after Sim knocked down a triple to make it 25-14 with 8:35 on the clock.

It was pretty one sided from then on as GHK pulled away to a 46-25 lead at the break.

Sim and Lim did most of the damage as the duo combined for 27 first half points.

They were never troubled the rest of the way as they cruised to victory.

The second match saw CJMM outgun Linktech 100-89 in Group B.

The competition resumes on Sunday with PAR taking on Cuckoo in Group B at 7pm.

The second match pits ACLC against Fateh in Group A at 8.30pm.
