CUCKOO centre Voon Yiew Ting felt that their big second quarter was exactly the confidence booster they needed in the final YOU.C1000 Veteran Basketball Cup on Sunday.
"We weren't thinking about the championship as we were just happy to be there to enjoy the final," said Voon in an interview with BruSports News.
"We only had eight players available and couldn't make too big changes in rotation.
"But the mindset was good after leading in the first half," he added.
"It helped to bring up our confidence and overall, everyone played well," continued Voon.

This is his second championship this year, together with Esmond Tan and Lim Aik Hock, having won the YOU.C1000 Cup with Propel in July.
The 42-year-old, who averaged over 19 points per game, posted a game-high of 21 in the final.
He got off to a slow start in the competition but was satisfied by his overall performance in the end.
"I was not satisfied with my performance in the first few matches as we haven't played in a while," said Voon.
"It slowly picked up after two-three matches... the stamina and the rhythm," he added.

On the other hand, CJMM playing manager Chua Teng Chuan gave credit to his opponents.
This is the second year in a row that they had fallen to them in the final.
"They played really well and they showed how experienced they are. We are happy for them," said Chua.
"Some things didn't go our way and we didn't play the way we wanted.
"But overall we are proud of our team that we were unbeaten from the start up till the final," he concluded.
