MSSSBD dominate the pool for SKBD

THE Brunei Darussalam Sports School Council (MSSSBD) were the biggest winners for the swimming competition of the 4th SKBD over the weekend after amassing a total of 18 gold, 21 silver and eight bronze medals.

Temburong were second best with six gold and one silver while Brunei Muara bagged one gold, two silver and 13 bronze medals at the National Aquatics Centre in Berakas.

Ashley Chai was the biggest contributor for MSSSBD after she finished at the top of the podium for all her events to win seven gold medals.

Nur Haziq Samil also had a good outing with five gold, three silver and two bronze medals for MSSSBD.

On the other hand, Christian Nikles won all the medals for the Temburong district at the the three-day tournament.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Isa Ahmad of the ISB Hammerheads was the biggest winner of the 7th Brunei Open and Masters (LC) Swimming Championships - which was held concurrently with the SKBD competition.

He won nine gold and one silver medal while setting two new national open records - bagging himself $600 from the Brunei Amateur Swimming Association (BASA) newly introduced incentive scheme.

The first record came in the men’s 50m breaststroke event after he clocked a time of 30.51s beating his told time by 0.22s.

The other was in the men’s 200m individual medley with at time of 2:18.43. The previous best was 2:19.40 set by Christian Nikles in 2015.
