FITNESS Zone completed a sweep of their group in the Chairman’s Cup after easing past Tool Box 96-64 last night.
Kevin Tay posted a game-high of 44 points, which included 12 three-pointers, for Fitness Zone in the lopsided victory at the BBA court in Batu Bersurat.
Alvin Goh added 15 points while the duo of Esmond Tan and Francis Barcelleno contributed 13 and 11 respectively.
On the other hand, the pair of Kenny Lim and Ng Lit How led the way for Tool Box with 12 points each while Shim Jan Ting was the other in double figures with 10 in the defeat.
Fitness Zone were up 41-32 at the break and turned things up a notch at both ends of the floor.
They were getting it done from behind the arc and also limited their opponents to finding the basket.
Big man Barcellano arrived late in the third quarter and soon after saw their advantage balloon to 68-49 after a buzzer beater by Goh over two defenders to end the third quarter.
Tool Box simply had no answer to their opponents and were overwhelmed.
Tay then put up a shooting clinic from three-point territory late on as he knocked down six treys to end the game scoring 18 straight points for his side in the rout.
