Haziq, who has been in the FINA Thanyapura Development Programme for almost three years, never expected such a good outing at the Oct 22-24 meet.

"I never expected it since we didn't really taper for this meet and that our last competition was back in October last year," said Haziq in an interview with BruSports News on Monday.

"It was a good feeling setting those new records and after training here (in Thailand) for almost three years, I feel that I've improved a lot," he added.

When asked on what was the highlight of the meet, Haziq replied: "Setting a new national record for the 1500m freestyle event because it awarded the highest FINA points."

Next on the calendar for Haziq will be in a long course competition at Krabi, Thailand from November 5-7.

"I'm looking forward to the next event and I hope that I can achieve my target of setting more new personal bests," he concluded.
