NATIONAL sprinter Md Noor Firdaus Ar-Rasyid Hj Md Idris bagged a bronze medal at the ICTSI Philippine Athletics Championships on Saturday.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympian crossed the line with a time of 10.96 seconds to finish third in the men's 100m event at the Ilagan City Sports Complex.

Filipino Nolan Crespo won the gold on 10.89s while Indonesia's Amatus Somaghai claimed the runner-up spot 0.03s behind.

Firdaus had qualified for the final after winning his heat. He crossed the line with the same time earlier in the day.

The time is his season's best with his personal best at 10.60s, which he managed at the Asian Athletics Championships in Doha in 2019.

The 100m event featured some 39 competitors including fellow Bruneian Abdul Hakeem Ismail.

He won the final heat of the day with a time of 11.39s but it wasn't enough for him to be part of the final eight contestants.
