PROPEL moved into the quarter-finals of the YOU.C1000 Cup as Group B winners after holding on for an 82-76 victory over Parekoy on Friday.
Parekoy needed at least an 11-point win margin to advance and knock Propel out.
They looked good in the opening period with their hot three-point shooting.
They had a stretch with four straight treys to open up an eight-point lead at the BBA Court in Batu Bersurat.
It was a closely contested and physical affair between both sides from then on.
With man-to-man defence, Propel stuck their noses in front.
They finally opened up a double digit lead at 74-64 after a layup by Alvin Goh with under seven minutes to play.
Parekoy didn't back down and cut the deficit to three at 79-76 after a putback by Leonil Espina.
Goh then scored a quick layup at the other end and Shim Jan Ting's block on Espina with 40 seconds left sealed the deal for Propel.
Goh topscored for Propel with 25 points while Marcus Lim added 13.
Tung Yee Keong and Phang Seng Fu chipped in 12 and 11 respectively in the triumph.
On the other hand, Lowell Mark Prino had a game-high of 27 points to pace Parekoy.
The duo of Mario Pahimutang and Joemar Corona notched 13 apiece while Espina dropped 10.
