No home comfort for Wasps

THE national football team were dismantled 6-0 by Indonesia in the second leg of their World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers on Tuesday night.

It was the first home match at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas in about three years since it closed for renovations.

The Wasps exit 0-12 on aggregate after losing the first leg in Jakarta by the same scoreline on Oct 12th.

The visitors had the perfect start and grabbed the lead through Hokky Caraka in the sixth minute.

Brunei held their ground and did better than their first meeting by pouring forward.

Brunei custodian Haimie Nyaring did well to deny Dendy Sulistyawan and followed that up with another save against Shane Elian Jay.

Garuda doubled their advantage after an easy ball to the middle was tapped in by Egy Maulana Vikri in the 42nd minute.

They netted another just two minutes later with Hokky scoring his second after connecting at the far post.

Indonesia added one more to the scoresheet just minutes after the interval with Witan Sulaeman converting from the spot.

Rizky Ridho Ramadhani made it 5-0 just after the hour mark firing past Haimie before breaking out Ronaldo's iconic siu celebration.

Indonesia then completed the resounding win with Ramadhan Sananta chipping substitute goalkeeper Muhammad Ishyra Asmin for icing on the cake.
