Invincible Kasuka & Ar Rawda reign supreme

KASUKA & AR RAWDA were crowned champions of the Brunei Futsal League (2023) after edging MS ABDB Perwira 5-4 in the final game of a shortened season on Saturday.

MS ABDB had carried a 3-2 lead into halftime at the Multipurpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

The armymen opened up a two-goal lead four minutes after the interval courtesy of Ak Md Idzzaham Aleshahmezan Pg Metali.

Ak Muhd Nazrul Mubin Pg Duraman replied immediately at the other end and the game was tied at 4-4 in the 31st minute through Ak Muhammad Naqib Pg Timbang.

Iranian import Mohammad Reza Rahmannia then completed the comeback for Kasuka & Ar Rawda with a goal - bringing his tally to 34 - two minutes from time for a hat-trick.

The result saw Kasuka & Ar Rawda finish the season unbeaten through 18 games for a maximum of 54 points while MS ABDB finished runners-up six points behind.

Almerez FC complete the top-three in the 12-team competition with 43 points.

The champions took home a cash prize or $7,000, trophy and medals.

The runners-up bagged $5,000 while third-place received $2,500.

To add icing on the cake for Kasuka & Ar Rawda, head coach Wahyu Triyanto and Muhd Reza won the best coach and topscorer awards respectively.

MS ABDB grabbed the Fairplay Award and Abdul Malik Yunus was named the best player.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Hazmi Kamsul of GG-ISC Futsal was named the best U-21 player.
