PENCAK SILAT exponent Nur Wasiqah Aziemah Rosihan claimed the silver medal in the women's seni tunggal event at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand on Sunday.
She fell to Malaysia's Nur Syafiqah Hamzah 9.960 – 9.920 in the final at the Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani.
Wasiqah began her campaign with a 9.930 – 9.920 victory against Myanmar in the quarter-finals on Saturday to guarantee a podium finish.
She made it back-to-back wins and progressed to the title decider after taking down Singapore's Nurin Insyirah Mohamed Aidil 9.945 – 9.915 on Sunday morning.
This is the third silver medal for Wasiqah at the biennial Games having finished runners-up in the regu event in the past two editions.
"Alhamdullilah. Overall, I feel proud and grateful for my performance. I gave my best throughout the Games, stayed focused, and trusted the preparation I had done,”"said Wasiqah in an interview with BruSports News.

"There were challenges along the way for my preparations, but I learned a lot from the experience and it motivated me to work even harder moving forward.
"There are areas to improve, but I’m satisfied that I competed with heart, discipline, and determination," she added.
"Winning a medal in the tunggal event feels very special and the most meaningful to me. After getting silver for regu in the past two SEA Games, achieving this medal is a different kind of satisfaction.
"It showed that all the hard work and consistency paid off. Most importantly, it reminded me to always trust in Allah's plan and timing, because everything happens at the right moment," concluded he 23-year-old.
Meanwhile, Muhd Ali Saifullah Abdullah Md Suhaimi was stopped in his tracks in the men’s seni tunggal event falling 9.895 – 9.935 against Indonesia's Syariff Hidayatullah Suhaimi in the quarter-finals on Saturday.
Over in the men's seni regu event, the trio of Muhd Syafiq Hj Sufri, Muhd Haziq Aqwa Md Iman Safwan and Ak Azhar Nasrullah Pg Hj Yasrizam Ayob couldn't get past the Philippines in the quarter-finals falling 9.920 – 9.930.
