HONEY Carsmart escaped with a 97-83 overtime victory over The Rookies in the Boy's Under-18 category of the YOU.C1000 Cup on Tuesday.
They let a 12-point fourth quarter lead slip before going 14-0 in the extra period to secure the opening win at the BBA Court in Batu Bersurat.
Terrance Chieng produced a game-high of 36 points to lead Honey Carsmart.
Tiong Wei Xu added 25 points and Danleys Kryztian was the other in double figures with 11 in the triumph.
On the other hand, John Estrada topscored for The Rookies with 27 points.
Arjay Castro added 22 and Prince Santiago, who had 10 in their fourth quarter comeback, finished with 18 points.
Jacob Romero was the other to hit double digits with 12 in the loss.
Both teams were evenly matched in the opening period trading baskets to see The Rookies stick their noses in front 20-19.
