Propel x Teik Goldsmith chomp on Mango Cake

PROPEL x Teik Goldsmith shrugged off a slow start to run away with a 70-26 win against Mango Cake on Friday.

In what was their third straight victory, Propel x Teik Goldsmith had three players in doubles figures.

Rachael Lee and Mayble Ling finished with matching game-highs of 12 points.

Lim Giuk Ting added 11 in the triumph.

On the other side, Lim Xing Huey topscored for Mango Cake with seven points.

Mango Cake started out the better team as they opened up a 5-0 advantage four minutes into the game - leading to a Propel x Teik Goldsmith timeout.

The latter had trouble breaking down the Mango Cake half court trap as they trailed 9-7 going into the second frame.

Both sides traded baskets after that and Propel x Teik Goldsmith went in front for the first time after Lim converted the hoop and harm for an 18-16 lead midway through.

It sparked a 10-0 run before Eloise Foray finally ended the rot with a steal and finish late on as Mango Cake fell behind 29-18 at halftime.

Propel x Teik Goldsmith picked up at the defensive end after the break.

They held their opponents to a single field goal in the third stanza.

They opened up a 20-point hap after a jumper by Chia Zi Cheng at 40-20 with three minutes left in the period.

It was more one way traffic the remainder of the way to see Propel x Teik Goldsmith stay perfect.

The second game saw Hana Boyz take down Honey Carsmart 97-61 in the Boy's Under-18 category.

Two players hit the 30-point mark for Hana Boyz with Khael Tandoc leading the way with 32 points.

Nicholas Ting was the other with 30 to his name in the victory.

On the other hand, Tiong Wei Xu topscored for Honey Carsmart with 21 points and Terrance Chieng added 13.

The competition resumes on Saturday with CJMM taking on Mango Cake at 7pm.

The second match will see Propel x Teik Goldsmith open their Group A campaign against The Defender.
