PROPEL x Teik Goldsmith made it two wins out of two in Group A of the YOU.C1000 Cup after defeating Ekonic 94-70 on Friday.
They had distributed scoring with four players hitting double figures at the BBA Court in Batu Bersurat.
Grant Goddard was the high-man with 24 points – 13 of them coming in the third - while Ben Sim added 20.
Alvin Goh notched 12 and Voon Yiew Ting chipped in 11 in the triumph.
On the other side, Jupeter Almoite topscored for Ekonic with 16 points. The duo of Wisley Tumamao and Val Revila chipped in 12 and 10 respectively in a losing effort.
Propel x Teik Goldsmith had the height advantage but Ekonic went with man-to-man defence right from tip off.
The latter stayed aggressive and managed to force a couple of turnovers to keep the match close.
But Propel x Teik Goldsmith capped off the opening period with five unanswered points for a 22-17 lead going into the second frame.
Goh converted a jumper to open a double-digit lead for the first time at 35-25 midway through the period.
They continued to take things into the paint to extend their gap to 48-33 at the break.
Propel x Teik Goldsmith turned it up a notch at the defensive end after the interval - converting turnovers into easy buckets.
The broke the 20-point gap after Voon split his freethrows midway through to make it 59-39.
Goddard then scored 13 straight points to put his side ahead 74-46 going into the final stanza.
Ekonic tried to work their way back but only got as close as 19 points to see them succumb to their second straight defeat.
The earlier match saw Honey Carsmart beat Faze 92-56 in the Under-18 category.
The tournament resumes with two more matches on Saturday.
Hana Boyz and The Rookies will do battle in the U-18 category at 7pm.
The second game pits Fateh against Wan Sing in Group B at 8.45pm.
