THE national under-15 football team suffered a 2-1 setback against hosts Chinese Taipei in their second Group F game at the 2018 AFC Under-16 Championship qualifiers after conceding two late goals last night.

Yang Sheng-Kai scored late into stoppage time at Fu Jen University to steal all three points for the hosts.

A freekick from their own half was headed on to send Yang through on goal.

He then chipped an onrushing Md Riyan Aiman three minutes into added time to complete the comeback victory.

National under-15 football coach Stephen Ng was pleased with the showing of his charges but felt they were unfortunate to finish at the losing end.

“The boys played well and tried their best but unlucky to concede an injury time goal to lose the game,” said Ng after the defeat.

Md Hirman Abdul Latif gave Brunei an early lead after his shot from 35 yards out dipped past the hand of Kung Jhen Jhong in between the Chinese Taipei sticks in the 11th minute.

Chinese Taipei only got the equaliser in the 85th minute after substitute Lin Chun Kai  wasn't closed down to fire on the turn with his left foot from just inside the box.

Brunei will next take on North Korea, who crushed Macau 10-0 in the earlier kick off, on Wednesday.
