ABDUL Azizi Ali Rahman hopes that scoring a hat-trick in his first Singapore Premier League League start for DPMM FC will help him force his way into Rene Weber’s starting line-up.

The 31-year-old hit three past Hougang United in the first half on Saturday at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium as DPMM FC ended their five-game winless run.

Abdul Azizi, who made his Singapore Premier League debut on May 24 after coming on for brother Azwan in the 70th minute in their 1-1 draw against the Young Lions, hopes that his recent fine form will convince his club head coach to give him more chances.

“I would like to thank coach Rene Weber for trusting and giving me the chance to play that night,” said Abdul Azizi, who was playing in place of the suspended import Volodymyr Pryyomov, in an interview with BruSports News.

“I am really hoping that he (Rene) will give me more playing time to show to the team and the fans what I can do.

“It was my first start for DPMM FC and it felt great to score three goals… I am very happy Alhamdulilah,” added Abul Azizi, who was named the Singapore Premier League player of the week.

“At DPMM FC, the most important thing is to win and to get the three points. The three goals would not have counted if we had lost the game, so I am very happy to contribute in the victory,” continued the forward.

The former Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) striker had a very successful spell with his previous club.

Abdul Azizi won three DST Super League and five DST FA Cup titles with MS ABDB,

He was also the top scorer for the 2016 and 2017 seasons for MS ABDB in the DST Super League and is also the record holder for most goals in the competition before leaving for DPMM FC on February 13 this year.

DPMM FC will be in action tonight as they take on Warriors FC in their first leg quarter-final clash in the Singapore Cup at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore.
