TWO national open records and 14 championship records were broken over the weekend during the 4th Brunei Open & Masters Swimming Championships.

She bettered her time from last year by over four seconds after clocking 3:00.49 at the ISB 25m pool.

Jacqueline Lim, who represented Brunei in synchronised swimming at the SEA Games two years ago, was the other to set a new national open record.

The 26-year-old clocked a time of 6:28.92 in the women’s 400m Individual Medley to better the old time by over a minute.

The 21-year-old, who swam for the Hammerheads, only arrived back in the Sultanate from London a day before and was pleased with his performance.

“It is good to be back and through I am a little tired after the long flight, I am pleased with my performances,” said Isa in a press release from the Brunei Amateur Swimming Association (BASA).

“I will be looking forward to do my time trials for this year SEA Games in the upcoming Brunei Age Group next month and hope to qualify for it.” he added.

His older sister, Nur Hamizah, also stood out after winning a total of four gold and one silver medals after returning from a five-year hiatus.

Next on the BASA calendar will be the 27th Brunei Age Group Swimming Championships from April 19-21 at the National Aquatics Centre of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

The three-day event will serve as a qualifying meet for the SEA Age Group Championships in June as well as the SEA Games later this year.
