DPMM FC have their eyes on the Singapore Cup as they look to dethrone defending champions Albirex Niigata FC (S) in the final at the Jalan Besar Stadium tonight.

The Brunei side advanced to their first ever final in the competition after a come from behind 2-2 draw against Balestier Khalsa FC at the Toa Payoh Stadium on Wednesday night - winning 4-2 on aggregate.

DPMM FC coach Rene Weber is pleased to make it this far and has faith in his charges despite going up against an invincible Albirex that hasn’t lost a single game all season.

“We are happy to be in the final. We know it will be a difficult game but our team want to write our names as the winners,” said Weber in an interview with BruSports News on Wednesday.

“The final is a special game. I believe in our players and that we can do it,” he added.

DPMM FC enter the title decider unbeaten in 10 matches in all competitions registering five wins and five draws.

Their last defeat actually came against the Japanese side in a 3-1 loss at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas on August 7.

Weber credits their good training sessions in making them better.

“The main factor is because the players are training more at a higher level to improve their physical capacity,” said the Brazilian.

“Technically the players have always been very good,” he added.

After the final, DPMM FC will then turn their attention to their final game of the Singapore Premier League season where they host the Garena Young Lions on Tuesday night.

Victory will see the Brunei side leapfrog Tampines Rovers FC into third position.
